Many CAEAL members and other non-member experts have experience and offer services as trainers. They are also technically competent in specific areas of environmental science and related topics. CAEAL Training Services wishes to make use of this potential pool of talent, in order to realise two important benefits.
  1. Make use of available and known talent in the delivery of training to CAEAL members at reasonable costs, and
  2. Provide fair and equitable access to CAEAL member training for qualified CAEAL members within the context of a member-driven Training Service.

External training service providers can also provide CAEAL and its members with much needed expertise not available within the association or its membership. CAEAL wishes to establish the nature and scope of the relationship that defines the mutually beneficial work undertaken by these external training service providers.

Scope

The CAEAL Training Service Partnership Program includes CAEAL and all members and non-members of CAEAL that have been qualified by CAEAL to deliver training services on behalf of the association to both member and non member organisations and persons.

Authority

The CAEAL Training Service Partnership Program is established and maintained by CAEAL Training Service, under the direction of the CAEAL Board of Directors and the CAEAL Executive Director. The program is administered by the CAEAL Manager, Quality and Training.

Objectives

The objectives of the CAEAL Training Service Partnership Program are:

  1. To recognise the competence of persons and organisations in the delivery of training services to CAEAL members.
  2. To formally document such recognition in a manner that can be communicated to the organisations and persons concerned and to the CAEAL membership.
  3. To ensure that the process of qualifying CAEAL Training Service Partners is open, transparent and equitable.

Criteria

Subject Matter Expertise. All CAEAL Training Service Partners must be experts in the subject matter they deliver on behalf of CAEAL. Such expertise is determined by the documented experience of the Partner, or by a CAEAL committee of subject matter experts, or by the formal affiliation of the Partner with another outside system of recognition deemed acceptable to CAEAL, or by a combination of these methods.

Skill in the Delivery of Training. All CAEAL Training Service Partners must be able to deliver facilitated training to others in a manner which is interactive, considers participant needs, and aims to meet training objectives developed jointly with the participants. These skills are demonstrated by Partners through the documented experience of the Partner, or through an on-site evaluation of skills by CAEAL, or by the formal affiliation of the Partner with another outside system of recognition deemed acceptable to CAEAL, or by a combination of these methods.

CAEAL Codes of Conduct. All CAEAL Training Service Partners have signed the CAEAL Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Code and have agreed to abide by the CAEAL Code of Ethics.

CAEAL Training Service Partner Agreements. All CAEAL Training Service Partners enter into agreement with CAEAL on the delivery of CAEAL-sponsored training each time they agree to deliver training on behalf of CAEAL. The agreement consists of a standard Training Contract Assignment form (.pdf) and the Terms and Conditions of the CAEAL Training Service Partnership (.pdf). These documents provide for, amongst others, the following:

  1. The Partner invoices CAEAL following completion of each training session.
  2. CAEAL covers the cost of travel and accommodation of Partners in accordance with published CAEAL guidelines which are drawn from Canadian Federal Government travel guidelines published by Treasury Board.
  3. CAEAL markets all CAEAL-sponsored training and registers all participants to this training.
  4. CAEAL reproduces all training materials to be used during CAEAL training.
  5. Participants evaluate the performance of all CAEAL training facilitators, including Training Service Partners.
